Rock Shop

Rock Shop

The Club’s rock shop allows members to cut, slab and polish rocks for cabochons – especially fun if you’ve found them yourself on a field trip.  It is always a fund time to play and learn at the shop!

The shop will typically be open from February through November.
The shop is open on Sundays from 9:30 am to 2 pm and Thursday evenings from 5pm to 8pm.
Please check your email or our Facebook page for more details.

Hours only on scheduled days (see above). Please wear closed toed shoes. Remember to wear safety glasses and ear protection! All days and evenings are subject to weather conditions. Thunder, lightning and heat will close the shop at all times. For directions, please contact a board member.

Equipment/Amenities:

  • 5 grinder/polishing units
  • 3 trim saws
  • 5 slab saws from 10″ to 24″
  • 5 polishing wheels
  • SiC grinding wheels
  • Rock painting area

Donations for the use of all equipment are greatly appreciated. We do charge a fee for slab saw cuts. From $1.00 to $3.00 depending on size of cut. These funds keep equipment up and running. Use of the shop is for personal use not mass production.

Remember to clean up after yourself!

We are always looking for classes from members. For example, silver smithing, wire wrapping, etc.
