Feather River Rocks
This rockhounding club was founded in 2008 in Oroville located in northern California to promote and encourage all aspects of collecting and studying rocks, minerals, and fossils as well as the pursuit of all types of lapidary and jewelry art. The club's goals are to educate members through field trips, lectures, classes, and hands-on experience about rocks and lapidary techniques. The club has a top-rated rock cutting and polishing shop where members learn to cut, shape and polish rocks for jewelry and objects of art. Other classes and jewelry making techniques are available. Members also conduct outreach programs to schools to increase knowledge and interest to students and teachers in the local communities.
The club hosts an annual rock, gem and jewelry show every September in Chico, California which includes over 30 dealers of jewelry and rough rock, demonstrations of equipment, a raffle, and much more for families and children. The show has grown throughout the years attracting thousands of attendees, and gives our members a chance to show off their artwork. Learn more.
The club is as a non-profit organization affiliated with the California Federation of Mineralogical Societies (CFMS) and the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies (AFMS).
