The Feather River Lapidary & Mineral Society, Inc. would like to congratulate the top 3 winners of our tumbling contest:

  • 1st place winner: Al & A.J. SCHUBRING, father and son from Wheatfield, N.Y.
  • 2nd place winner: Susanne Pindard & Natasha Lambert, Bullhead City, AZ
  • 3rd place winner: Wyatt Ross Vied, Goldsboro, N.C.

A big thank you to all this year’s contestants. Many of us had a bit of extra time for actually tumbling and it showed in your rock work/play.

Once again we are dealing with massive, local wildfires in Northern California. Because of the smoke filled skies we did not “place” all returned rock this year. The vast majority of you fell into the mid 18 to 22 point range, out of a total of 25 points. It seemed like small cracks were the main difficulty for most of you. Don’t forget that the rules of the contest allow you to break, grind and/or shape BEFORE the rock is loaded into your preferred tumbling unit.

I want to thank this year’s judges for putting in the time and pulling out their loops to determine the top three winners. Thank you Tom, Julie, John, Megan and Bruno. It took them quite some time once again. You tumblers are very good at what you do with rock.

Again, thanks to all of you for entering our 2021 contest. Please keep an eye on our website featherriverrocks.org and our facebook page for information on our 2022 contest starting January 1.

Sincerely,
Lori Millard, FRLMS Inc Tumbling Chair
